Onteora Mountain House

Hidden gem in the Catskills. Great relaxing weekend getaway for our anniversary trip. Stayed at Mt Tremper, clean, spacious, updated room with a large jacuzzi. Entire properties are well maintained with nice touch to give you a relaxing feels. Great view of Catskills mountains, very spacious and lots of privacy. There is a old swimming pool being used as golden fish pond and mini-trail.

The place is beautiful, but we got the room that has not been updated in years. The mattress is smaller then a Queen and it has to be 30+ years old. The other issue is that we got a room that was not updated. They don’t have curtains on the windows. It is blinds. Old metallic blinds. We arrived to find out that our room was taken by a worker of the place, I guess it is fine, people get confused, but well, we were tge paying guests. We were literally given a different room than we were supposed to get. The place is beautiful but there is nothing to do. They don’t have a pool. The crew treated us well, nice guys.

Just completed our wedding weekend at the Onteora Mountain House and we have run out of superlatives to describe our magical weekend. The venue is perfect for 100 guests, a very cozy and intimate feeling to the setting. Jeremy and Dylan are awesome, so supportive while not intrusive at all. The setting is spectacular and has a wonderful history to it, once owned by the Hellman mayonnaise inventor. Filled with antiques and Tiffany lamps it gives the feeling of permanence. You must visit there to really appreciate how special it is.

I flew in from California to play a wedding at this venue. The property has incredible views, and are very well-maintained. The staff were extremely organized. I’ve worked dozens of weddings as a musician and I rarely get to work with people as organized and friendly as Jeremy. If I wasn’t already married I’d definitely consider this a location for my wedding.

The house of my dreams. The entire property (house and gardens) are a pleasure to explore. In October the gardens were teeming with mushrooms and walking around felt like being in a cross between a forest and a farmers' market. The North Dome room was spacious, sunny, and had great views of the mountains. There is great food in the area a few miles away, and quite a few hikes a bit further out, plus an easy long walk along the neighboring lake. The owner stayed out of the way and was pretty reserved, but I imagine it's a tiring job with so many people coming around.

Our August wedding was more magical than we could have imagined. Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Working with Jeremy made the process a breeze. Onteora has a streamlined process in place to organize a wedding efficiently, but also leaves room for the special touches that allow your wedding’s personal theme to shine through. We loved having the venue to ourselves from Friday through Sunday, and opted to host our rehearsal dinner (35 people) and Sunday brunch (100 people) there, all of which were delightful. We loved that our family dogs celebrated with us, since Onteora is pet-friendly. Onteora is so peaceful and secluded that your entire wedding will feel like a dream - very different than your typical commercialized wedding venue. We loved having the ceremony and cocktail hour outside, and the surrounding landscape provided an incredible backdrop for photos. If we had to go back and do it all over again, we would still choose Onteora in a heartbeat.
